Trouble Ahead in the Office Market

A recent NREI report indicates that office space absorption in the 3rd quarter '06 was lower than the 2nd quarter. This was in spite of the fact that vacancy rates dropped 30 basis points. While it may be just a fluke, some see it as a sign that office demand may be slowing.

Apartment Landlords Getting Upper Hand?

With a shrinking apartment stock due to condo conversions and development, apartment vacancy rates are also declining. Effective rents, which averaged $905 in 2004 are expected to rise to $1071 by the year 2010. ( NREI statistics on Multifamily Investments just released). ...and Apartment Caps are showing this trend.
